Role – Service Desk Engineer (DV Clearance)
Location – Farnborough, 5 days a week
Contract – Initial 6 months
Rate - £300 to £350 per day

You must hold active DV Clearance to be eligible for this role. This role has been deemed Outside IR35. The Opportunity Our client is looking for a talented Service Desk Engineer to join their growing technical support team, providing essential IT support within a highly secure environment.

The Role As a Service Desk Engineer, you'll provide 1st and 2nd line technical support across a range of end-user devices, infrastructure, and business-critical services. You'll be responsible for resolving incidents, supporting users both remotely and on-site, and ensuring service requests are managed efficiently while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to service desk tickets and keeping users informed throughout the incident lifecycle.
- Providing 1st and 2nd line support for desktop, infrastructure, and Microsoft environments.
- Escalating complex technical issues to 3rd line support where appropriate.
- Delivering both desk-side and remote support to end users.
- Communicating planned maintenance and service updates to the user community.
- Monitoring system alerts, triaging issues, and escalating where necessary.
- Maintaining accurate incident records within the ITSM system.
- Documenting resolutions and contributing to the technical knowledge base.
- Supporting the Major Incident Management process when required.
- Occasional travel to remote sites may be required.
The Person We're looking for someone who is passionate about technology, enjoys troubleshooting, and takes pride in delivering an excellent support experience. You'll be a proactive team player with strong communication skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
You'll ideally have experience with:
- Windows 10 and Windows 11 administration.
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Active Directory administration.
- Microsoft 365 administration.
- Endpoint Management.
- Running PowerShell scripts.
- End-user device provisioning and user onboarding.
- Security technologies including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Conditional Access.
- IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms such as Atlassian/Jira Service Management or similar.
- Linux environments such as Ubuntu or CentOS.
Desirable experience includes:
- Windows Server administration and support.
- macOS device management (MDM).
- Group Policy administration and troubleshooting.
- Writing and automating PowerShell scripts.
