Interim Head of Digital Governance

Outside IR35 Contract | Up to 12 Months | £750 per day Hybrid – London (min 2 days per week onsite)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Head of Digital Governance to join a large, complex, regulated organisation undergoing continued digital evolution. This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring digital services, investment decisions and operational delivery are supported by effective governance, assurance, risk management and control frameworks. You will provide the structure and oversight that enables Digital, Data, Cyber and Operational teams to deliver at pace, whilst ensuring decisions remain transparent, compliant and aligned to organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mature enterprise-wide digital governance frameworks, ensuring clear ownership, accountability and effective decision-making.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders across Digital, Operations, Data, Cyber, Risk and Governance teams.
• Establish and maintain appropriate governance controls across digital delivery, change and operational services.
• Provide oversight of digital risk management, audit readiness and assurance activities.
• Lead governance around the responsible adoption and use of AI, ensuring appropriate controls, standards and guardrails are in place.
• Own digital policy and standards frameworks, ensuring they remain practical, current and embedded.
• Oversee digital change governance, ensuring decisions are supported by appropriate evidence, approvals and risk assessment.
• Provide governance oversight across supplier relationships, contracts, procurement and digital asset management.
• Improve reporting, performance visibility and value-for-money measures across digital services.
• Build confidence in governance processes, ensuring they enable better decisions rather than creating unnecessary barriers.

Experience Required You will bring experience in:

• Senior digital governance, technology governance, risk, assurance or operational control roles.
• Working within large, complex and ideally regulated environments.
• Developing and embedding governance frameworks, policies and operating models.
• Strong understanding of audit, risk management, compliance and assurance processes.
• Digital delivery environments, ideally covering technology change, data, cyber and operational services.
• Managing senior stakeholder relationships and influencing executive-level decisions.
• Supplier, contract and commercial governance.
• Creating structure and control in environments undergoing transformation or change.
• Experience within sectors such as housing, public sector, financial services, utilities or other highly regulated organisations would be beneficial.
