Role Overview
We require a Project Manager for our higher education client to work on a specific project where they are introducing a new Unit4 finance system, which will replace the current Agresso system with a more standardised version hosted in the cloud. This will reduce customisation, simplify processes and make approvals more efficient.
Their finance data is connected to several other systems, so their finance, integration, and identity management projects are closely linked and depend on each other. The target go-live for these projects is February 2027 with all build and testing due to be completed by the end of October 2026.
Responsibilities:
As the Project Manager for this Finance Unit4 project, you will manage the high priority Unit4 finance system project that is key to this specific programme.
Develop a detailed project plan clearly identifying critical tasks and the resources needed to achieve them
Manage tasks, working with teams to mitigate issues that might impact timely completion.
Collaborate and engage with diverse teams of academic and professional colleagues to tackle complex challenges.
Engage with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, subject matter experts, and project team members, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
This role will be fast paced, a strategic project working to tight deadlines and will involve working with both the Finance and Procurement, DDaT (IT) and their strategic project team
Essential Skills & Experience required:
As the Project Manager (Unit4) you will:
Possess previous experience of working on a finance project with experience of implementing finance systems, ideally with Unit4
An ability to work collaboratively with the finance team, system integrators and specialist resources.
An appreciation of the pressures experienced within a finance department with an ability to be supportive while ensuring project tasks are completed to plan.
Appropriate robustness in the direction of the project activities.
An understanding of financial concepts, terms and processes.
Proficient in managing projects with an ability to inspire and engage others.
Skilled in the managing of complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
A commitment to continuous improvement and helping the client achieve its ambitious goals.
