I'm working with a business in Cheltenham who are looking to recruit an Embedded Android Developer on a contract basis for a specific project (Outside IR35). The work involves developing the Android SDK for video/media streaming application built on custom hardware (based on i.MX8 hardware). Skills required: Expertise with Embedded Android (AOSP) for non-phone hardware Video / media streaming experience (Gstreamer, ExoPlayer, MediaCodec etc) Ability to complete greenfield work with minimal supervision Choosing evaluating hardware and tools for the platform The work is largely remote, with occasional travel to Gloucestershire & Hamsphire for hardware testing. The role involves developing C/C++ and Python code that runs on Zephyr RTOS. Specific experience with Zephyr itself isn't essential, but candidates must have deep, hands-on experience with at least one other RTOS, be up-to-date with modern coding techniques and ideally come from a computer science background.
