Contract Network & Systems Admin (Citrix) at Spectrum IT Recruitment Limited, Multiple Locations, £Contract Rate

Spectrum IT are looking for an experienced Contract Network & Systems Administrator to support an established technology organisation with the management, optimisation and development of its infrastructure estate. This is an initial 2 month contract, deemed OUTSIDE IR35 with scope to extend.

The client requires a strong infrastructure specialist with particular expertise across Citrix, VMware, Hyper-V, Windows Server and networking.

This is a hands-on technical role supporting business-critical systems across on-premise and cloud environments. You'll be responsible for maintaining existing infrastructure, troubleshooting complex technical issues and delivering upgrades, migrations and infrastructure improvements.

Strong Citrix experience remains particularly important, alongside broader systems administration and virtualisation expertise. The successful contractor will need to work independently, take ownership of technical issues and become productive quickly within an established Infrastructure and Hosting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain and optimise network and systems infrastructure across on-premise and cloud environments.
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot Citrix infrastructure, including NetScaler, StoreFront and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.
• Administer VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation environments, including a large estate of virtual machines.
• Support Windows Server infrastructure, Active Directory, DNS and associated network services.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure incidents across Citrix, servers, virtualisation, networking and business-critical applications.
• Plan and deliver infrastructure upgrades, migrations, patching and hardware refresh projects.
• Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions, including Veeam.
• Support network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing and connectivity across multiple sites.
• Monitor systems and networks, investigate alerts and implement improvements to performance and reliability.
• Support IIS, SQL Server and development, testing and production environments.
• Work closely with internal infrastructure and security teams, including remote international colleagues.
• Document technical changes, maintain infrastructure records and support established change management processes.

Key Technical Skills

• Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 / 2507.
• ADFS, SAML, SSO and federated authentication.
• Veeam backup and disaster recovery.
• SonicWall / FortiGate firewalls.
• SQL Server and IIS administration.
• SSL certificates and secure remote access.
• ManageEngine, Zabbix and Uptrends monitoring tools.
• Experience managing large-scale virtualised environments.
• Exposure to Dell server infrastructure.
• Experience supporting multi-site or international infrastructure environments.

The Ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced Network & Systems Administrator /engineer with a strong technical background in Citrix, Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V and networking.

You'll be comfortable managing complex infrastructure environments, responding to incidents and delivering technical improvements with minimal supervision. The client needs someone who can balance day-to-day infrastructure support with hands-on project delivery and work effectively with both UK and international teams.

Occasional out-of-hours support and travel to data centres may be required.
