Data Architect at Lithium3 Technology Recruitment Limited, Surrey, 6 Months, £550 per day/Outside

Contract Description

Lithium3 need a Data Architect with strong Data Modelling experience to lead the architectural design of data ingestion, integration and processing solutions for a customer's Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment.

6 months initially. £550 per day. Outside IR35. 2-3 days in the office per week in Surrey.

Working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams and external data providers, you will translate business requirements and source-system constraints into robust, scalable and secure data architecture. You will be responsible for defining how information is acquired from multiple systems, integrated into the cloud platform and made available for downstream analytics and business planning.

The wider data landscape incorporates BigQuery for cloud data storage and processing, alongside Databricks for advanced data transformation and distribution to Business Intelligence and planning applications.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Data Architecture: Develop end-to-end data architecture designs that address business requirements, technical constraints, scalability, performance, security and operational support.
  • Requirements Definition: Collaborate with business analysts, application owners and technical stakeholders to define data requirements, assess complexity and translate demand into clearly defined data products.
  • Source System Integration: Assess a variety of upstream data sources, including RESTful APIs, Oracle and SQL Server databases, and file-based feeds delivered through SFTP.
  • Data Provider Engagement: Work with suppliers and third-party technical teams to define integration specifications, data structures, delivery frequencies, interface dependencies and service-level expectations.
  • Ingestion Architecture: Determine the most appropriate integration approach for individual sources, including batch processing, change data capture (CDC) and streaming. Design solutions using relevant GCP services, including Dataflow, Datastream, Pub/Sub and Cloud Composer.
  • Cloud Data Platform Design: Define the movement, transformation and consumption of data across BigQuery and Databricks, ensuring the architecture supports efficient processing and reliable access to trusted data.
  • Data Distribution: Design secure data-sharing mechanisms for downstream consumers, including business users, planning platforms such as Anaplan and reporting solutions such as Power BI.
  • Architecture Documentation: Produce and maintain High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs), ensuring they are technically complete and ready for engineering implementation.
  • Design Governance: Present proposed solutions to the relevant design authority, coordinate security and architecture reviews, address feedback and obtain formal approval before development begins.
  • Technical Standards: Establish and promote best practices covering software development, CI/CD, data validation, governance, security, access management and overall solution maintainability.
  • Agile Delivery: Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement and technical discussions. Support business analysts in developing clear user stories and maintain sufficient architectural definition ahead of engineering delivery.
  • Implementation Assurance: Provide technical guidance during development, review code and implementation decisions where appropriate, and verify that delivered solutions align with the approved architecture.
