Contract Description

U-Boot Porting / Cortex-A | Remote Europe | Outside IR35

An industry-leading semiconductor client is looking for a senior, experienced Embedded Engineer for a long-term contract, working fully from home (you can work from anywhere in Europe), on U-Boot and trusted firmware bootloader development for a next-generation high-end Cortex-A MPU.

This is genuine low-level bootloader / firmware work - not application-level Linux or straightforward integration. Ideal for someone who enjoys working close to the hardware and has real porting experience.

The opportunity

Fully remote - work from anywhere in Europe

Long-term contract - targeting a start from early January

Outside IR35

Competitive day rate

One-stage interview process (Teams)

Work directly on a next-generation SoC and boot platform

What you 'll be doing

• Porting and bringing up U-Boot on a new SoC, working across the boot chain from early hardware bring-up

• U-Boot and/or Arm TF-A bootloader development (BL2 / BL3) on high-end Cortex-A / MPU architectures

• Contributing changes upstream through open-source processes

• Supporting the platform with BSP, Device Tree and embedded Linux work

The client is particularly interested in engineers with experience in:

• Embedded C and low-level development

• U-Boot and/or ARM TF-A bootloader development

• Open-source upstream processes

• Cortex-A / high-end MPU architectures - Renesas RZ or similar platforms

• Linux BSPs, Device Tree and embedded Linux

• Yocto and Linux kernel debugging

• Hardware bring-up and debug

If you have hands-on U-Boot porting experience on a new SoC and you 're based in Europe, I 'd love to hear from you. Apply here or message me directly for a confidential conversation.
