Technical Architect - Public Sector Transformation - OUTSIDE IR35 - ACTIVE SC CLEARANCE REQUIRED

We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect to support a major public sector transformation programme focused on modernising probation services and reducing reliance on Legacy platforms.

This role would suit senior architects with strong experience across enterprise architecture, AWS, API-led integration and Legacy modernisation. You'll play a key role in shaping the future technology direction of a strategic programme, establishing the architectural foundations, governance approach and technical standards that will underpin future delivery phases.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll collaborate with engineering, delivery and business stakeholders to assess the current technology landscape, define the target-state architecture and develop the roadmap for future migration and platform evolution.

Responsibilities

• Assess the current architecture, technology landscape and Legacy estate.
• Evaluate existing platforms, integrations, dependencies and technical constraints.
• Define architectural principles, standards and governance frameworks.
• Establish considerations for future platform evolution and migration.
• Design and promote API-led integration approaches across the estate.
• Produce architectural artefacts, roadmaps and target-state designs.
• Support engineering teams by providing technical leadership and architectural guidance.
• Collaborate with programme stakeholders to align technology decisions with business objectives.
• Identify risks, dependencies and opportunities associated with Legacy modernisation.
• Contribute to technical assurance, architecture reviews and governance activities.
• Support the mobilisation phase by establishing the foundations for future delivery and migration programmes.
• Champion best practices across cloud architecture, integration and solution design.

Experience & Skills

• Proven experience operating as a Technical Architect within large-scale transformation programmes.
• Strong enterprise architecture background covering applications, integrations and cloud platforms.
• Extensive experience designing solutions within AWS environments.
• Strong understanding of API-led architecture and enterprise integration patterns.
• Demonstrable experience assessing and modernising complex Legacy estates.
• Experience defining architecture governance, standards and assurance processes.
• Ability to produce clear architectural documentation and technical roadmaps.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Public sector experience is highly desirable.
• Pragmatic, outcome-focused approach with the ability to balance strategic thinking and delivery needs.

Location: Primarily remote with occasional travel to Tecknuovo's London office

Engagement Type: Outside IR35
