OAT Engineer | Outside IR35 | Remote

SR2 is recruiting an experienced Operational Acceptance Tester to support a large-scale digital programme. You'll help ensure cloud services are resilient, supportable and ready for production, working closely with engineering and operational teams.

The Role

You'll take a leading role in planning and delivering Operational Acceptance Testing across cloud infrastructure and services. This will involve validating operational requirements, testing recovery procedures and providing clear evidence that services are ready to go live.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop OAT strategies, test plans and acceptance criteria covering operational readiness and non-functional requirements.
  • Test resilience, failover, backup, restoration and disaster recovery capabilities within cloud environments.
  • Validate monitoring, alerting, logging, configuration management and operational support documentation.
  • Work with DevOps, infrastructure and release teams to support the transition of services into production.
  • Identify and manage defects, communicating risks and working with technical teams to resolve issues.
  • Report on test progress and outcomes, providing guidance to other testers and supporting release decisions.

Essential

  • Proven experience delivering Operational Acceptance Testing for complex technology services.
  • Strong understanding of build verification, monitoring, backup and recovery, release management and operational procedures.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure, infrastructure monitoring and IT service management.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins and test automation frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, databases and network protocols.
  • Understanding of security testing, including OWASP Top 10.
  • Experience working within Agile and DevOps teams, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Eligibility for security clearance. For this engagement, applicants must be British citizens with at least five years' continuous UK residency.

Desirable

  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker or containerised services.
  • Relevant ISTQB, ITIL, AWS or Azure certifications.
