Full Stack Developer React, TypeScript & Node.js
IR35: Outside IR35
Location: Glasgow, hybrid with two days per week onsite
Duration: Initial six-month contract, with extension by agreement
We're recruiting a Full Stack Developer for a software business. You'll join a small engineering team, working alongside the CTO on a new clinical-records product and an existing clinical transcription platform.
This is a mid-level role where you'll own features from requirement through to production, with code review and support from the team. The core stack is React, TypeScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL, with services deployed on Google Cloud and in containerised on-premise environments.
What you'll be doing
Build features across React interfaces, TypeScript backend services and workers, and the database layer.
Write and review SQL, data models, schemas and migrations for clinical and case data.
Create unit, integration and end-to-end tests, and maintain working CI/CD pipelines.
Deploy and support services on Google Cloud and in Docker-based on-premise installations.
Handle confidential data carefully, including access controls, audit trails, data residency and keeping personal data out of logs.
Take part in code reviews and keep technical documentation up to date.
What we're looking for
Commercial experience with TypeScript, React and Node.js.
Strong SQL and relational data modelling skills, ideally with PostgreSQL and schema migrations.
Experience with automated testing, Git and code review.
Hands-on Docker experience and familiarity with GCP, AWS or Azure, including CI/CD.
An understanding of UK GDPR and secure handling of personal or confidential data.
Clear communication and the ability to work independently with support from the team.
Useful additional experience
Python/FastAPI, Firebase, Flutter or Dart.
Healthcare standards such as FHIR or HL7, or experience in another regulated sector.
Integrating AI APIs, large language models or speech-to-text services into applications.
Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools, and accessibility standards such as WCAG.
AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or Cursor.
The additional technologies are desirable; the main requirement is solid full-stack TypeScript development experience.
You'll need to attend the Glasgow office two days per week. The engagement will be through your own limited company.
Apply with your CV to discuss the role.
