SENIOR DATA ARCHITECT - LEAD DATA ARCHITECT
Microsoft Fabric, MDM -Enterprise Data Architecture
Contract (Outside IR35), Excellent day rate
Central London - 3 days on-site, 2 remote
6 months initial, long-term extension expected
Clarity is working with a prestigious global consultancy seeking a Senior Data Architect for its internal technology function, to set the enterprise data architecture behind every business capability across the firm worldwide. You will define the future-state platform on Microsoft Fabric and medallion architecture, deliver the firm's new Master Data Management solution, retire Legacy data warehouses, and establish the Data Design Authority that governs how data is modelled, shared and trusted across the organisation. This is a role with real authority and genuine greenfield scope and could suit a Senior Data Architect or Lead Data Architect who has led an enterprise Fabric or Azure data platform end-to-end, or a Lead Data Architect from a global firm ready to set direction for an entire estate. You'll have experience in designing and delivering enterprise data platforms on Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
It is a hands-on, influential architecture role that sits between the firm's data strategy and the practical design of the platforms, models and standards that bring it to life.
You must have:
- Designing and delivering an enterprise data platform on Microsoft Fabric and Azure, hands-on -OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, semantic models and Power BI -built on bronze, silver and gold medallion layers
- Recent, hands-on implementation of a Master Data Management solution (eg Profisee, Informatica, Reltio, Semarchy or Stibo), alongside deep enterprise data modelling, warehousing, integration and data-quality experience
- 10+ years as a Data Architect, including time at a global firm, with the authority to set principles, standards and design governance across a complex, multi-region estate
Applications without these three will not progress.
The Role:
- Map the current state: document the existing data architecture, including the data warehouses to be retired or replaced
- Define the target state: set the baseline future-state architecture on Microsoft Fabric and medallion architecture, across on-premises and cloud
- Deliver master data: implement the MDM vendor solution now being selected and embed it across the wider platform
- Lead design authority: establish and chair the Data Design Authority, driving consensus on data-related change
- Own the enterprise data model: design and maintain the core enterprise data model, and champion the data standards that underpin it
- Set the standards: define architecture principles, reference architectures, design patterns and Azure controls for identity, security, networking, resilience and cost
- Apply AI to data: identify and drive opportunities to use AI to improve data architecture and practice across the firm
- Unlock data value: shape how specialist datasets can be exposed and monetised across industry sectors, and bring stakeholders behind the data vision
Essential Skills:
- Architecture judgement: selecting the right Fabric pattern for each use case and balancing near-term delivery against a scalable target state
- Data governance: a strong command of governance principles, data quality, metadata and lineage
- Influential communication that flexes for senior business leaders, technology teams and engineers, and builds consensus where there is resistance
- Strategic ownership: connecting architecture decisions to business priorities and seeing them through to measurable value
Why apply:
- Set the enterprise data architecture for a prestigious global consultancy, with real greenfield scope across Microsoft Fabric, MDM and AI
- A strong runway -a 6-month initial contract, with long-term extension expected
- An excellent outside-IR35 day rate, on a three-day on-site, two-day remote pattern in London - an easy commute from across London, the Home Counties and the South East
- Make the platform, master data, data model and design authority decisions that will shape how a global firm uses its data for years to come
