Role Overview

We're looking for a QAT (Quality Assurance Tester) with recent, hands-on experience testing web applications to join a delivery team building and improving public sector services.

You'll work closely with developers throughout the delivery life cycle, from backlog refinement through to release. You'll take ownership of quality at feature level, build and maintain robust test automation, and contribute to test strategy and planning across the Service Delivery Lifecycle.

This is a hands-on testing role. We're looking for someone who is actively testing features day to day and is comfortable collaborating closely with developers within an Agile delivery environment.

Location: Hybrid working, with occasional client-site travel as required
Contract Type: Contract, Outside IR35
Rate: £450 per day, Outside IR35
Security Clearance: Active SC required
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Test web application features end to end, from refinement and acceptance criteria through to release

  • Work closely with developers throughout the delivery life cycle, contributing to refinement, sprint planning and retrospectives from a quality perspective

  • Design, build and maintain automated test suites

  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to ensure quality checks run continuously

  • Define and own test strategy and planning for web-based services

  • Identify risks, raise defects and drive issues through to resolution

  • Promote best practice in testability, code quality and test coverage

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Recent, hands-on experience testing web applications, including feature-level testing

  • Proven experience working collaboratively with developers from refinement through to release

  • Strong test automation skills with good programming ability

  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines

  • Good understanding of Agile delivery practices

  • Excellent understanding of web development and the Service Delivery Lifecycle

  • Strong test strategy and planning skills

  • Active SC security clearance

Desirable

  • Experience working with Python and Django

  • Experience within public sector or government digital delivery environments
