Solution Architect - Autonomy at Kaizen Resourcing, Portsmouth, £800 per day

£800 per day

Contract Description

Autonomy Solution Architect, 6-month contract (Outside IR35) South Coast | £800/day (some flexibility)

A South Coast company developing an autonomous vehicle needs an Autonomy Solution Architect to own the end-to-end technical solution for a common, open and modular autonomy architecture.

You will turn customer missions, operational design domains and product priorities into a coherent architecture, product increments and evidence-backed releases. The work covers onboard software, remote operating centres, communications, simulation, payload orchestration, safety and cyber security.

This is a senior technical-leadership role. You will set direction, chair design decisions, guide internal teams and suppliers, and stay close enough to integration and trials to make sure the system works in realistic maritime conditions.

Contract: 6 months, Outside IR35

Rate: £800 per day, with some flexibility

Location: South Coast

What you’ll do

  • Own the target and reference architecture, including onboard services, remote operating centres, mission management, communications, simulation and payload interfaces.
  • Define functional boundaries, authority transfer, degraded modes and safe-state behaviours.
  • Own architecture views, service contracts, APIs, ICDs, data models, telemetry schemas and non-functional requirements.
  • Turn the engineering roadmap into delivery plans, increments, dependencies and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead verification, supplier integration, architecture reviews and technical investigations.
  • Support commissioning, integration, trials and early deployments.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience architecting and delivering end-to-end autonomy, robotics, aerospace, automotive, maritime or other safety-related cyber-physical systems.
  • Ability to translate mission requirements into architecture, interfaces, trade studies and delivery plans.
  • Experience with modular architectures, APIs, simulation (SIL/HIL), integration and field trials.
  • Understanding of safety and assurance for autonomous or high-integrity systems.
  • Eligibility for UK Security Clearance, and ability to travel independently to trial sites.

Desirable: marine autonomy or remote operating centres, COLREGs, ROS 2/DDS, sensor fusion, MBSE, C++/Python, functional safety or defence assurance, existing clearance.
