Business Intelligence/Data Manager - Data Governance, Architecture & BI

Location: East Midlands - Hybrid
Rate: £500 per day

We are currently recruiting for an experienced BI Data Manager to join during an exciting 12-24 month transformation programme. This is a key contract opportunity within a wider Operating Model Transformation Programme, where you will lead the data improvement workstream and establish the organisation's data architecture, governance, Business Intelligence and data management foundations.

Working as part of a small, core project team, you will provide specialist data expertise across multiple workstreams, ensuring that data is properly governed, structured and managed while supporting the organisation in developing more effective Business Intelligence, reporting and data-driven decision making.

This role would suit an experienced Data Manager, Data Governance Manager, Data Architect or Data & BI Lead who has worked across complex transformation programmes and is comfortable operating between business and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the data architecture approach supporting the target operating model.

  • Establish and implement data governance frameworks, including ownership, stewardship, custodianship, standards and policies.

  • Act as the central data SME across the programme, identifying data risks, dependencies and improvement opportunities.

  • Translate operating model requirements into practical data management and Business Intelligence requirements.

  • Support the development of a consistent approach to Business Intelligence, MI, reporting and analytics.

  • Provide expertise across data quality, Master Data Management, metadata, data lineage and integration.

  • Work closely with IT, BI teams, business stakeholders and project workstreams to ensure data is Embedded into process, system and organisational changes.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the quality, availability and accessibility of data to support business decision making.

  • Develop governance artefacts including data policies, standards, RACI models and governance frameworks.

  • Help define the longer-term data and BI operating model and capabilities required to sustain improvements beyond the programme.

Key Skills & Experience

We are looking for a strong Data Manager with proven experience across Data Governance, Data Architecture and Business Intelligence, ideally within a medium to large or complex organisation.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience designing and implementing data governance frameworks and data architecture.

  • Strong understanding of Business Intelligence, MI, reporting and analytics.

  • Experience working with ERP platforms - IFS experience would be highly advantageous.

  • Strong data experience within a manufacturing and supply chain environment, covering areas such as production, inventory, procurement, planning and logistics.

  • Strong understanding of Data Quality, Master Data Management, metadata and data life cycle management.

  • Experience working across multiple systems and understanding data integration and information flows.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across IT, business and programme teams.

  • Experience delivering data initiatives as part of a business transformation or operating model programme.

  • Ability to translate complex data requirements into practical and sustainable solutions.
