Contract Description

DevOps Engineer | Outside IR35 | Remote

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to support the development and operation of cloud-native platforms across AWS, Azure and GCP. You'll work within a complex engineering environment, building reusable platform capabilities, automating infrastructure and ensuring services are secure, observable and resilient.

The Role

This is a hands-on engineering position with a strong focus on Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and cloud automation. You'll work across multiple cloud environments, helping engineering teams deploy and operate modern applications while improving the underlying platform, tooling and delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, configure and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure and GCP, using Terraform to manage environments through Infrastructure as Code.
  • Deploy and operate Kubernetes platforms including EKS, AKS and GKE, supporting containerised applications and shared platform services.
  • Develop and improve automated delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions, Flux and GitOps practices.
  • Engineer secure cloud networking, API and integration capabilities, including AWS API Gateway, VPC/VNet networking, routing, DNS and load balancing.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting and observability capabilities to maintain platform performance, reliability and operational visibility.
  • Support distributed, event-driven architectures and automate operational processes using Scripting and platform engineering tooling.

Essential Experience

  • Strong commercial experience with AWS, including managing multiple cloud environments.
  • Hands-on Terraform experience within complex production environments.
  • Practical experience across AWS, Microsoft Azure and GCP, including networking, identity, security and governance.
  • Strong Kubernetes expertise, ideally across EKS, AKS and GKE.
  • CI/CD and GitOps experience using GitHub Actions and Flux.
  • Experience with Kubernetes tooling such as Istio and Kustomize.
  • Strong experience configuring and securing AWS API Gateway.
  • Cloud networking knowledge covering VPCs, VNets, subnets, routing, load balancing and DNS.
  • Experience implementing operational monitoring, alerting and observability.
  • Experience supporting event-driven/microservice architectures, including Apache Kafka.
  • Automation and Scripting experience with Python, Bash and/or PowerShell.
  • Strong Git experience using platforms such as GitHub or GitLab.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting or monitoring applications built using React.js or Angular.js.
  • Knowledge of authentication and identity standards including OAuth 2.0, OIDC and SAML.
  • Experience migrating or modernising workloads between AWS, Azure and GCP.
  • Broader platform engineering experience creating reusable capabilities across Kubernetes, networking, identity, security, CI/CD and observability.

The Details

  • Contract role: 6 months
  • IR35 Status: Outside IR35
  • Rate: £450-475
  • Location: Remote
