Senior Business Analyst (Data-Focused) – Contract (Outside IR35)

Location: Liverpool, Hybrid

Contract Length: Initial 6-month contract

Day Rate: £450–£550 per day (Outside IR35)

100% Data-focused BA role (Data Warehousing, Enterprise experience, Data Engineering, Lakehouse, Requirements Analysis)

The role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced, Contract Senior Business Analyst to join their IT function on an initial six-month contract.

The BA contractor will produce comprehensive requirements documentation and support successful delivery of key enterprise-level digital platform solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst with extensive experience on data-focused projects, who can hit the ground running, quickly engage with C-level stakeholders, define requirements, and drive successful project delivery.

Essential Requirements

• Enterprise & Global Experience: 5+ years of Business Analysis experience in large-scale, global, or multi-national enterprise environments, with a proven track record of delivering end-to-end data, business intelligence, and reporting transformations across distributed teams and matrixed structures.

• Knowledge of data solutions: Hands-on functional understanding of data warehousing/lakehouse solutions

• Data Requirements: Skill in documenting source-to-target data mappings, data dictionaries and validating pipeline outputs against raw source systems; expertise in defining Data Quality, defining data entity relationship diagrams and experience with data integrations within complex internal environments.

• Knowledge of data concepts: Master Data Management (MDM) concepts, metadata-driven architecture, and enterprise data security (RLS).

• Reporting & Analytics: Proven ability to define complex KPI logic and semantic model requirements, alongside designing executive-level dashboard concepts in Power BI.

• Methodology & Delivery: Exceptional requirement-gathering capabilities (user stories, functional/non-functional specs and data modelling), stakeholder management up to C-suite level, and proficiency in Agile environments (Jira).

• Desirable Requirements;

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• Microsoft Fabric Ecosystem: Hands-on functional understanding of the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (Lakehouses, Warehouses, OneLake, Data Factory, Power BI).

Contract Details

• £450–£550 per day
• Hybrid working (typically 3 days onsite / 2 days from home)
• Immediate requirement with interviews taking place shortly and a start date expected within 2–3 weeks.
