Product Designer - Discovery & Experimentation

Contract: Initial 3 months

Rate: £450 per day (Outside IR35)

Location: Shepherd's Bush - 1 day per week onsite

Global retail organisation now requires Product Designer to join its established product function on an initial three-month contract.

This role will focus heavily on early-stage discovery and rapid, experimentation-driven design. You will take ambiguous customer and business problems, explore multiple potential solutions and use prototyping and evaluative research to determine the strongest direction.

The successful Product Designer will be comfortable working at pace, testing ideas quickly and providing strategic direction where the solution is not immediately clear.

Key responsibilities

• Lead discovery activities across new product opportunities and customer problems
• Translate complex or ambiguous problems into clear design hypotheses
• Explore multiple potential solutions through rapid prototyping
• Plan and conduct evaluative user research to test concepts and assumptions
• Use research findings and evidence to refine designs and recommend a direction
• Produce high-quality UX and UI deliverables at pace
• Work closely with Product, Engineering and other stakeholders
• Help establish product and design direction in areas with limited existing definition

Required experience

• Strong end-to-end Product Design experience across both UX and UI
• Particular strength in product discovery and experimentation
• Experience exploring and testing multiple solution hypotheses
• Strong rapid-prototyping skills
• Hands-on experience conducting evaluative user research
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and providing strategic direction
• Ability to balance speed, quality and customer needs
• A proactive, high-ownership approach to delivering work
• Experience designing customer-facing digital products across web and mobile
• Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills

Experience working within B2C, retail or another customer-focused digital environment would be highly beneficial.
