A newly formed combined authority client of mine plan to bring both the police and fire service in house and therefore will need to have established IT systems, process and interfaces in place and are looking to bring in a Head of Strategic IT in on an interim basis to lead on this.
Main duties:
- Assess all of the systems currently in use across the police service, fire & rescue service and also the combined authority (currently piggybacking from the constituent council).
- Will act as the subject matter expert for the combined authority and oversee the SLA.
- Assess all potential risks and issues with transferring systems. E.g. as the police use highly confidential systems it is essential that access to these systems remain protected from other workers.
- Will need to come up with assurance and suggestions to ensure that things don’t fall over from day one.
- Will be acting as the lead on this work.
- It is still to be decided but the combined authority may not make any changes to any systems and decide to continue as they are with the fire and police services but the combined authority would incorporate shared points for everyone to use e.g. email systems, corporate wide systems etc.
- This is a purely hands on role and there will be no line management responsibilities.
Candidate Requirements:
- Candidates must have specific experience working in a strategic/transformation IT role within a local government setting.
- Candidates will either have direct experience of working on strictly confidential systems (in this context the police’s systems) or deep knowledge and an awareness of this.
- It is essential that candidates have gone through a period of similar change as there will be an expectancy to hit the ground running and lead on this work.
The client will be reviewing CV’s mid next week therefore if you match the above criteria and are interested then please don't hesitate to reach out and send your CV to daniel.worthington@g2recruitment.com or call 0115 666 6399.
