Technical AI Lead (Java) at IO Associates, United Kingdom, £400-£450 per day

I'm looking for a Senior Java Engineer/Tech Lead to join a large-scale product modernisation programme.

This is a hands-on role working across a complex brownfield Java platform. Alongside solving complex technical problems and helping stabilise and modernise the product, you'll play a key role in coaching and mentoring the wider engineering team as they transition towards AI-assisted development.

Looking for:

• Strong hands-on Java engineering experience
• Tech Lead experience, including coaching and mentoring engineers
• Experience with complex brownfield/Legacy products
• Experience helping engineering teams adopt AI within their development practices
• Exposure to Spec Driven Development or similar approaches
• Comfortable getting into the code and solving complex technical problems

Contract: Initial 6 months
Rate: £400 day
IR35: Outside IR35
Location: Remote
