Senior Java Developer - Outside IR35 - Up to £700 per day

A leading organisation in the financial services sector is looking for experienced Senior Java Developers to join its engineering teams, working on bespoke software solutions across complex financial markets environments.

This is a hands-on development role, with a strong focus on server-side Java/JVM, working across greenfield and brownfield projects. You'll need to be comfortable working with ambiguity, taking ownership and delivering solutions in a fast-moving environment.

The Role

• Develop server-side Java/JVM applications across financial services and trading environments.
• Work across the full software development lifecycle, from technical design through to implementation and production.
• Work with Linux, Kubernetes, event-driven architecture and cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to solve complex technical problems.
• Take ownership of issues and drive them through to resolution.

Technical Environment

Essential:

• 8-10+ years' commercial software development experience.
• Strong server-side Java/JVM expertise.
• Greenfield and/or brownfield development experience.
• Strong Linux experience.
• Financial services or energy trading experience.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

Desirable:

• Angular, React, Redux and Redux Saga.
• AWS and/or Azure.
• Kubernetes and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with large and complex data sets.
• AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Windsurf or Devin.
