CAD-CAM Software Developer

Type: Outside IR35 Contract

Rate: £550 - £650/day

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Nottingham (Hybrid)

We’re looking for an experienced CAD-CAM Developer to join a specialist software development team working on advanced applications for the steel fabrication and machinery industries.

This is a hands-on contract opportunity for a developer who can hit the ground running, move between development teams and contribute to complex software projects from day one.

The Opportunity

You’ll work within a dedicated CAD-CAM division developing cloud-based enterprise software and native/browser applications used by clients worldwide.

You’ll work across different areas of the CAD-CAM platform depending on project demand, tackling challenges around 3D geometry, mathematical algorithms, optimisation, toolpath generation and automated manufacturing workflows.

Key requirements

• Strong commercial experience with C# / .NET and ASP.NET Core 8+
• Experience developing cloud-based applications, ideally using AWS or Azure
• Previous CAD-CAM software development experience
• Strong mathematical and geometric problem-solving ability
• Experience working with 3D graphics, geometry or CAD applications
• Proven ability to work across multiple teams, projects or codebases
• Strong Git and modern software development practices

Desirable Experience

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

WPF | Angular or modern frontend frameworks | DynamoDB/NoSQL | RabbitMQ/MassTransit | Microservices | Event-Driven Architecture | CQRS | DDD | TDD | Agile | CI/CD

About You

You’ll typically have 3+ years of commercial C#/.NET development experience, alongside a strong mathematical or technical background.

A degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline would be beneficial, although equivalent commercial experience will also be considered.

Most importantly, you’ll be comfortable working on complex technical problems involving software, mathematics and geometry, and able to quickly understand existing codebases and start delivering.

• 2 days per week in the Nottingham office
• 3 days working remotely
