Security Architect – DV Cleared – Defence contract role
Location: Preston – onsite three days per week, two days per week remote
Day rate: £750 - £800 per day Outside IR35
Initial contract: Four months, likely to extend for at least a further 12 months
You will only be considered for this contract role if you hold a current DV clearance, this is essential to the nature of the work you will undertaking.
NexGen Associates is recruiting for an experienced Senior Security Architect to support a highly sensitive technology programme within a secure environment on a contract basis.
The successful contractor will provide security architecture expertise across complex, business-critical systems involving multiple technologies, suppliers and delivery teams. You will help shape the programme’s security direction, ensuring that risks and protection requirements are properly considered throughout the design and implementation process.
Due to the sensitive nature of the work, further programme information will only be provided to suitably qualified and security-cleared candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop security architectures for complex technology systems and programmes.
- Produce and review high-level and detailed technical designs.
- Translate operational, technical and business requirements into practical security solutions.
- Identify architectural risks, technical weaknesses and gaps within proposed designs.
- Recommend appropriate controls to protect systems, information and services.
- Provide specialist advice across secure infrastructure, networks, cloud services and enterprise technologies.
- Define suitable approaches to identity management, access control, data protection and secure information exchange.
- Review solutions produced by internal teams, delivery partners and third-party suppliers.
- Provide security input throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial requirements through to implementation and operational use.
- Lead or contribute to technical reviews, architecture forums and programme governance meetings.
- Ensure proposed solutions meet relevant government security requirements, organisational policies and recognised standards.
- Work across complex delivery environments involving multiple suppliers and stakeholder groups.
- Explain technical security risks and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support the resolution of design issues that could affect security, resilience or programme delivery.
- Provide guidance and technical leadership to architects, engineers and wider delivery teams.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Extensive experience working as a Senior Security Architect within complex, regulated or highly secure environments.
- Strong technical knowledge across enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, networks, applications and security technologies.
- Demonstrable experience producing and assuring high-level and low-level technical designs.
- Experience supporting major technology programmes involving multiple suppliers or delivery partners.
- Strong understanding of security architecture, technical risk management and secure systems development.
- Knowledge of identity and access management, information protection, secure connectivity and controlled data exchange.
- Ability to assess technical proposals and produce clear, evidence-based recommendations.
- Experience leading technical discussions, design reviews and architecture governance sessions.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Pay: £750.00-£800.00 per day
