Contract: 11 days, delivered on a non-consecutive basis
Rate: Up to £450 per day

We're supporting one of the UK's most respected Azure specialist MSPs as they shape a strategic data platform transformation programme.

They need an experienced Business Analyst who can get up to speed quickly, lead focused discovery sessions and bring structure to a complex environment involving Legacy systems, undocumented processes and significant volumes of data.

You'll bridge the gap between operational stakeholders and technical delivery teams-turning ambiguous requirements into clear process maps, data requirements and actionable recommendations that will directly influence the future platform design.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading discovery workshops with operational, forecasting, product, IT and data stakeholders.
  • Capturing current-state processes, systems, workflows and data flows.
  • Identifying bottlenecks, manual processes, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Developing future-state processes and operating-model recommendations.
  • Gathering and documenting functional, non-functional and business requirements.
  • Producing process maps, BPMN diagrams, data-flow diagrams, user stories and requirements backlogs.
  • Analysing data ownership, quality, stewardship, lineage, metadata and governance requirements.
  • Supporting the creation of data dictionaries, business glossaries, KPI definitions and data-quality rules.
  • Working with architects and data engineers to validate requirements and define acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitating playback sessions and securing stakeholder agreement on key deliverables.
  • Supporting UAT, business readiness and solution validation where required.

Key Deliverables

Your outputs are likely to include:

  • Discovery and gap-analysis reports.
  • Current and future-state process documentation.
  • Business requirements and user stories.
  • Business process and data-flow diagrams.
  • Data lineage and governance documentation.
  • Data dictionaries and business glossaries.
  • Stakeholder analysis and acceptance criteria.
  • Business-readiness recommendations.

What We're Looking For

  • At least five years' Business Analysis experience.
  • Previous experience supporting data, analytics or platform-transformation programmes.
  • Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience documenting complex business processes and data flows.
  • A solid understanding of data governance, lineage, quality and ownership.
  • The ability to translate between business stakeholders, architects and engineering teams.
  • Experience producing structured, delivery-ready documentation.
  • Confidence operating in ambiguous environments with Legacy systems and limited existing documentation.
  • Availability to complete an 11-day, non-consecutive engagement.

Desirable Experience

Exposure to any of the following would be beneficial:

  • Microsoft Fabric.
  • Azure Data Platform.
  • Microsoft Purview.
  • Data warehousing.
  • Power BI.
  • Data migration or modernisation.
  • Data life cycle and governance frameworks.
  • Telecommunications, research or data-product environments.
  • Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart or Miro.

This would suit a senior Business Analyst who enjoys complex discovery work, knows how to uncover hidden dependencies and can quickly turn stakeholder knowledge into practical deliverables.
