Senior .NET Developer - Application Support & Agile

Fully Remote, Outside IR35 6 month contract

We are looking for an experienced .NET Developer with strong application maintenance and support experience to join a development team responsible for a business-critical Legacy application.

The role will combine hands-on development, application support and Agile delivery, with responsibility for picking up and managing development tickets, resolving live issues, delivering incremental enhancements and supporting sprint planning.

The application is primarily built using C#/.NET Framework, with an Angular Front End.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, support and enhance a Legacy C#/.NET Framework application.
• Diagnose and resolve application defects, performance issues and live service incidents.
• Investigate problems through to root cause and implement robust technical fixes.
• Deliver minor enhancements and incremental changes in response to business requirements.
• Take ownership of development and support tickets through to resolution.
• Work within an Agile/Scrum environment, contributing to sprint planning, backlog management and prioritisation.
• Help plan and organise development work across upcoming sprints.
• Work closely with infrastructure, database and other technical teams to resolve issues and maintain system reliability.
• Manage source control, configuration and release processes using established development practices and tooling.
• Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation.
• Support preparation and planning for future application migration activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve development, support and release processes.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to colleagues where required.

Essential Experience

• Strong commercial experience developing with C# and .NET Framework.
• Experience supporting and maintaining Legacy applications in a live production environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving application defects and production incidents.
• Experience working with Angular or another JavaScript-based Front End framework.
• Experience working with SQL/relational databases.
• Experience using source control and release management tools.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Experience managing development tickets and contributing to backlog and sprint planning.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with infrastructure, database and wider technical teams.

Desirable Experience

• Experience supporting applications through migration or modernisation programmes.
• Experience working with older versions of .NET Framework and Legacy technology stacks.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated deployment processes.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira or similar Agile/project management tooling.
• Experience working with production support, incident management and change management processes.
• Experience working with external infrastructure or database support teams.

What We're Looking For

This role would suit a hands-on .NET Developer who enjoys application support and ownership, rather than someone looking purely for greenfield development.

You will need to be comfortable moving between coding, troubleshooting production issues, managing tickets and helping organise Agile delivery. The ability to understand a Legacy codebase and make controlled, incremental improvements is particularly important.
