Java Tech Lead - Sports Betting - Outside IR35 - Fully Remote at Urban Connect, United Kingdom, £600 per day

AI-Native consultancy requires 3 x Backend Java Tech Leads (Java / Spring Boot) to join them as soon as possible on 6-month, fully remote, Outside IR35 contracts to help deliver a digital transformation programme to their iGaming & Sports Betting client.

Contract Details:

• Title: Tech Lead (Java / Spring Boot).
• Day Rate: £600 per day.
• Determination: Outside IR35.
• Location: Fully Remote.
• Start Date: Ideally asap but by no later than Monday 21st September 2026.
• Duration: 6 months.

Experience Required:

• A track record of operating at Tech Lead level.
• Strong Java (modern Java 8+) and Spring Boot, across both REST APIs and event-driven / Kafka systems.
• Engineering quality: code reviews, automated tests (unit testing), and maintainability.
• AI-assisted development eg. Claude Code: using modern AI tools to work more efficiently and increase productivity.
• Cloud services (ideally AWS) and CI/CD.

Responsibilities:

• This is a client-facing hands-on technical leadership role.
• You will be accountable for how your workstream is delivered, not just the code you write.
• You will set the technical direction, ensure delivery, mentor and coach the engineers around you.
