🔧 Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Salesforce DevOps Engineer to support and enhance our multi-cloud Salesforce delivery pipeline. The ideal contractor will have strong expertise in source-driven development, CI/CD automation, environment management, and release governance across complex Salesforce landscapes (Sales, Service, CPQ, Experience Cloud, custom domains).
The role focuses on ensuring high-quality, scalable, and auditable deployments, working closely with engineering leads, architects, QA, and product teams.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
DevOps & CI/CD Automation
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Copado, Gearset, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Bitbucket Pipelines.
- Implement source-driven development processes: branching strategy, pull request gating, version control governance.
- Automate deployments, validations, back-promotions, and environment sync processes.
- Maintain automated testing pipelines including Apex tests, static code analysis, PMD, and SFDX scanner.
Release & Environment Management
- Own the end-to-end release process for Dev → QA/SIT → UAT → Pre-Prod → Prod.
- Define and enforce deployment guardrails (approvals, change tracking, release notes).
- Analyse and resolve deployment failures, metadata conflicts, and dependency issues.
- Manage sandbox refresh strategy, including post-refresh configuration and data seeding.
Salesforce Platform Engineering
- Support development teams with SFDX modularisation, source tracking, packaging, and versioning.
- Ensure metadata consistency across multi-sandbox architectures (Service Dev, CPQ Dev, Sales Dev, Shared Dev).
- Implement automated delta-deploy and destructive changes strategies.
- Oversee integration of org-specific components such as flows, Omnistudio/Vlocity, CPQ metadata, custom objects, and permission sets.
Governance, Audit, & Compliance
- Maintain audit trails, release reporting, and environment dashboards.
- Ensure adherence to SDLC, change management, and SOX / ISO governance as applicable.
- Create and maintain DevOps documentation, runbooks, deployment checklists, and knowledge articles.
🎯 Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- 4–8+ years hands-on Salesforce platform experience.
- Strong proficiency with:
- SFDX / Salesforce CLI
- Git (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket)
- Copado, Gearset, AutoRABIT or equivalent DevOps tooling
- Metadata API & org-diff analysis
- Apex test frameworks, Lightning metadata, Flows
- Experience with CI tooling:
- GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps / Jenkins / CircleCI
- Experience with data migrations:
- Data Loader, Data Import Wizard, SOQL queries
- Understanding of API integrations, Managed Packages, and unlock/second-gen packaging (nice to have).
Professional Skills
- Strong problem-solving ability during release conflicts, merge failures, and validation errors.
- Excellent communication skills for working with developers, QA, architects, and product owners.
- Self-driven contractor comfortable working independently under Outside IR35 arrangements.
💼 Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Salesforce CPQ, Vlocity/OmniStudio, FSC, or Experience Cloud.
- Exposure to AWS, Docker, Kubernetes (for CI/CD infrastructure).
- Knowledge of Test Automation (Provar, Selenium, Jest for LWC).
- Understanding of Data Cloud and Event-Driven Architectures.
