What you'll be working towards:

We're looking for an experienced Technical Architect to join a high-profile UK Government programme supporting the transformation of a critical Digital Service Platform.

This is a discovery-focused engagement centred on assessing a complex technology landscape, Legacy estates, integrations, reporting requirements and operating models to help shape future transformation initiatives.

You'll work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand the current environment, identify risks and opportunities, and provide architectural recommendations that will inform future delivery phases. You'll act as a trusted architecture consultant, bringing clarity to complex environments and helping define the roadmap for platform modernisation.

What you'll be doing:

• Lead technical discovery activities across a complex digital estate.
• Assess existing platforms, applications, integrations and technical dependencies.
• Review Legacy systems and identify opportunities for modernisation and rationalisation.
• Support discovery across key data, reporting and Legacy platform initiatives.
• Analyse current architecture, operating models and supplier landscapes.
• Produce architectural recommendations and future-state options.
• Establish governance approaches and architectural decision-making frameworks.
• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to understand current-state challenges and future requirements.
• Create and maintain architecture artefacts, assessments and discovery outputs.
• Support programme stakeholders in defining future roadmaps, Statements of Work and delivery plans.

About you

• Proven experience operating as a Technical Architect within large-scale transformation programmes.
• Strong background in enterprise, platform and solution architecture.
• Experience leading discovery and assessment activities across complex technology estates.
• Knowledge of modernisation strategies, integration patterns and reporting architectures.
• Experience working within governance, assurance and architecture review frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and communication skills.
• Comfortable operating independently within complex and evolving environments.
• Experience working within UK Government, public sector or other regulated environments.
• Familiarity with large-scale digital transformation and modernisation programmes.
• Experience working on an AWS cloud environment

Desirable

• Technical knowledge of Kotlin and Spring
• Experience assessing supplier ecosystems and operating models.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern architecture patterns.
• Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance.

Contract Details

• Outside IR35
• Early September Start
• Initial 8 Week Discovery Phase leading into wider programme delivery
• London travel approximately 2 days per month
