Supply Chain/R&D Business Data Analyst - Remote - outside IR35 - £400/day - 9 months

We are seeking an experienced Data Business Analyst with strong expertise across R&D, Supply Chain, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes to support a major data and transformation programme. This role is particularly suited to candidates with experience in FMCG, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, or Health & Beauty organisations, where complex product structures, formulations, ingredients, and regulatory data are managed across ERP and PLM platforms.

The successful candidate will act as the bridge between business and technology teams, taking ownership of requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation. We are looking for someone who can work autonomously, challenge assumptions, resolve issues independently, and drive requirements through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead business and data requirements capture across R&D, Supply Chain, and PLM functions.
• Engage stakeholders to understand current-state processes and define future-state requirements.
• Analyse complex product data structures, including Bills of Materials (BOMs) down to ingredient, formulation, or substance level where applicable.
• Identify, validate, and close out assumptions, dependencies, and data issues with minimal supervision.
• Produce clear business requirements, process documentation, data mappings, and functional specifications.
• Work closely with technical and data teams to ensure requirements are translated into effective solutions.
• Support data migration, data quality, and data governance initiatives.

Required Experience

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst on data-focused transformation or data migration programmes.
• Strong domain knowledge across R&D, Supply Chain, Product Development, and/or PLM.
• Experience within FMCG, CPG, Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, or Health & Beauty environments.
• Strong understanding of complex product data, formulations, ingredients, specifications, or product structures.
• Experience working with SAP ECC data, particularly Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Ability to analyse data across multiple systems and understand the relationship between ERP and PLM platforms.
• Demonstrable experience working autonomously and driving requirements through to sign-off.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with Databricks.
• Exposure to PLM platforms such as Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia, or similar.
• SAP experience, although this is not a pure SAP Business Analyst role.
• Experience supporting data migration, master data management, or data governance programmes.

Additional Context

The programme involves analysing and aligning product data held across multiple systems. BOM data is primarily stored within SAP ECC, while more detailed product, ingredient, formulation, or substance-level information sits within a separate PLM platform. The successful candidate will be comfortable working at both the functional and detailed data level to ensure business requirements are accurately captured and delivered.
