Contract Description

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Research Officer (Data Analyst) for a 23 month contract on a rate of £194.38/day (Outside IR35). This role will be hybrid based with up to 2 days a week working from home.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the day-to-day management of the research databases and relationships between these;
  • Carry out cleaning and querying of data and maintaining Excel workbooks used for these tasks;
  • Manipulate data using tools such as Excel and Power BI to produce analytical data reports;
  • Carry out analysis of information gathered by the organisation for research purposes, and be able to communicate findings to a variety of stakeholders in sensitive, compelling, and creative ways;
  • Take ownership for your own projects’ objectives and targets;
  • Support with copy-editing and proofreading reports, ensuring consistency and accuracy within and across outputs, both in terms of their content and format;
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, establishing effective working relationships with colleagues; and
  • Where required, support other tasks within the Policy and Research Team.

Essential Skills:

  • Advanced use of MS Excel, including experience using Power Query and Macros.
  • Experience of MS packages, including Access and Power BI, and programming languages used in data manipulation and analysis such as SQL,R and Python.
  • Experience of gathering, managing, manipulating and analysing complex and sensitive data for research purposes.
  • Experience working on complex, large-scale research projects and datasets.
  • A strong commitment to quality and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven experience of working to tight timescales, and able to prioritise tasks according to project development stages.
  • Experience of working independently, as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Highly organised and efficient.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and command of English grammar and usage.
  • Personal resilience and the ability to deal with what can be a distressing subject matter.
