Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Location: Preston

Rate: £450 per day Outside IR35

Duration: 6 Months

Working Pattern: Hybrid – up to 3 days onsite per week

We’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join the team, responsible for maintaining and supporting critical infrastructure across data centre and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-day administration, monitoring, security checks and incident resolution.
• Manage, patch, build and maintain infrastructure across:
• Windows Server
• VMware
• Microsoft 365
• Azure
• Active Directory and Group Policy
• DNS, VPN and MFA
• WSUS and SCCM
• SAN storage and backup
• Monitoring and security tools
• Support and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online and OneDrive.
• Manage Azure AD/Entra ID, identity and RBAC.
• Support Citrix environments and published applications.
• Plan and implement new infrastructure solutions to support major projects.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational records.
• Work closely with infrastructure, network, applications and third-party teams.

Key Skills

• 7+ years’ experience in infrastructure or data centre operations.
• Strong Windows Server and VMware experience.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Azure administration, including IaaS and JSON templating.
• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and AD Connect.
• Experience with WSUS, SCCM, MFA and anti-virus solutions.
• Citrix administration experience.
• Experience with hardware, SAN storage and backup.
• Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills.
• Customer-focused with a strong emphasis on quality, security and documentation.
• Unix/Linux experience is desirable.
• Full UK driving licence required.
