Data Analyst – Data Standardisation

Competitive Day Rate Outside IR35 Contract

We are currently supporting a leading digital transformation consultancy on a Data Standardisation Discovery programme within the UK public sector.

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to play a key role in understanding the current data landscape, identifying inconsistencies and data quality issues across multiple sources, and helping shape recommendations for future data standards and delivery.

The Role

As a Data Analyst, you will work across both technical and business stakeholders, using hands-on data analysis to build a clear evidence base for the Discovery phase.

You will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating workshops and stakeholder discussions to understand data requirements and build a shared view of the current data estate.

  • Profiling data across multiple systems to identify inconsistencies, duplication, gaps and data quality issues.

  • Reviewing existing data models, identifying weaknesses and recommending improvements.

  • Manipulating and wrangling structured and unstructured data to support analysis and hypothesis testing.

  • Producing data quality and profiling reports.

  • Creating dashboards and visualisations that communicate complex findings clearly to technical and senior non-technical audiences.

  • Contributing to Discovery deliverables, including current-state data landscape assessments and target data standards.

  • Supporting the development of an implementation roadmap, including effort estimates and technical implications for subsequent delivery phases.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience delivering data analysis within Discovery, data transformation, migration or data standardisation programmes.

  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to interpret JSON and XML.

  • Hands-on experience with data profiling and data quality analysis.

  • Experience facilitating workshops with both business and technical stakeholders.

  • Experience reviewing data models and identifying data issues or areas for improvement.

  • Proficiency in at least two data visualisation/reporting platforms, such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker or Qlik.

  • Experience producing profiling reports, data quality outputs and executive-ready visualisations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data issues clearly and without unnecessary technical jargon.

  • Experience contributing to implementation plans, estimates and technical recommendations.

Desirable
  • Previous UK public sector experience.

  • Experience working within government data transformation programmes.

  • Experience with data governance, data standards, data mapping or data lineage.

  • Experience working across complex or multiple source systems.

  • Previous experience within consultancy or digital transformation environments.
