Contract Description

Delivery Manager

Liverpool · Hybrid (2 days onsite) · 6-month contract · Outside IR35

We have a brilliant opportunity for a high-impact Delivery Manager to lead a major core operational systems replacement programme.

The programme will replace two separate legacy operational systems with a single enterprise SaaS platform, creating a more consistent, scalable technology foundation across the business.

What's the role?

You will lead the programme from discovery and requirements consolidation through vendor selection, implementation, migration, cutover, and adoption. A key part of the role will be bringing together two very different operating environments, harmonising processes where possible, and ensuring the selected solution delivers what the business has purchased without becoming over-customised.

Working across technology, architecture, operations, data, procurement, and third-party suppliers, you will establish clear governance, manage complex dependencies, and maintain momentum across a strategically important transformation.

If you have successfully led legacy system replacement, consolidation, migration, or major SaaS implementation programmes, this is an opportunity to shape a long-term transformation from its earliest stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of the core systems replacement programme, from discovery and planning through procurement, implementation, migration, cutover, and business adoption.
  • Drive the consolidation of requirements across two distinct legacy operational systems and ensure they translate into a clear buying and implementation process.
  • Build and manage integrated delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, RAID logs, governance forums, budgets, and executive stakeholder reporting.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams spanning operations, technology, architecture, data, security, procurement, testing, and business change.
  • Lead vendor engagement and RFP delivery, ensuring solutions are assessed against agreed business, technical, and operational outcomes.
  • Hold vendors and implementation partners accountable for delivering the solution purchased, challenging scope drift and unnecessary customisation.
  • Manage migration, transition, cutover, and operational readiness activity while minimising disruption to critical services.
  • Facilitate decision-making across complex workstreams, resolving competing priorities and escalating risks with clear options and recommendations.
  • Establish strong delivery controls and champion pragmatic, outcome-focused programme governance.

Person Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Delivery Manager or Programme Manager leading complex enterprise technology transformation end-to-end.
  • Strong track record delivering legacy system replacement, platform consolidation, migration, harmonisation, or modernisation programmes.
  • Experience implementing enterprise SaaS products through major vendor-led programmes.
  • Practical experience supporting vendor selection, procurement, RFP, fit-gap assessment, and contract-to-delivery traceability.
  • Strong understanding of migration, cutover, operational readiness, dependency management, and business adoption.
  • Experience managing systems integrators, SaaS vendors, and third-party implementation partners against defined outcomes.
  • Excellent governance, RAID management, planning, executive reporting, and senior stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Comfortable operating across both technical and operational teams in a fast-paced, complex environment.

Next Steps

We are looking for someone who can bring clarity and pace to a complex programme, challenge vendors confidently, and lead a business-critical platform replacement from definition through to successful implementation.
