Provn are proud to be partnered with a well-established Investment Manager as they look to hire a Defect Manager to join a major, multi-year admin platform transformation programme.
The Defect Manager will own the defect life cycle end-to-end - from peer review of every bug raised in test, through triage with internal teams and external delivery partners, to coordinating fixes with the platform vendor via a defined hotfix process.
This role suits an experienced defect manager - or a senior tester who has run this discipline as part of a broader role - who's comfortable applying a formal process at scale, and confident chairing meetings with both internal teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Peer review all defects raised out of test, ensuring they carry the correct information before progressing
- Chair regular defect triage meetings with internal test/dev teams and external delivery vendors
- Filter production issues into the formal incident management process
- Report on, chase, and assign defect tickets that have received a fix
- Work with product owners to establish business priority for outstanding defect fixes
- Manage the hotfix Pathway - liaising with the platform vendor to get urgent fixes into the test environment outside the standard sprint/release cycle
- Apply the organisation's existing defect management policy consistently across workstreams
- Act as the single coordination point for defect activity, freeing test leads to focus on test execution
Role Requirements
- Demonstrable experience managing the defect/bug life cycle on a formal test programme
- Confidence applying an existing, industry-standard defect management process
- Comfortable chairing triage meetings with both internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Working knowledge of defect management standards and terminology
- Strong stakeholder management skills across test leads, developers, and product owners
Preferred Experience
- Experience on a large-scale migration or transformation programme
- Background in life & pensions or wider financial services
- ISTQB or equivalent testing qualification (useful, not essential)
Why Apply
- Own a defect management function from the ground up on a multi-year, business-critical programme
- Work against an already-defined, industry-standard process
- High-visibility coordination role sitting between test, delivery, and the business
- Six-month initial contract with a realistic path through to programme completion in 2027
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: Initial 6 months (high chance of renewal)
Location: Remote with travel considered
IR35 Status: Outside
