We're supporting a leading digital transformation consultancy in the search for an experienced Product Consultant to join a major digital transformation programme with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering user-centred digital services that support millions of people across the UK. Working within an Agile, multidisciplinary team, you'll help shape product direction, engage with stakeholders and ensure delivery teams have a well-defined, prioritised backlog.
The Role
As a Product Consultant, you'll own product features from discovery through to delivery, working closely with clients, developers, architects and designers to deliver high-quality digital products.
You'll facilitate workshops, gather and refine requirements, write user stories, prioritise backlogs and champion MVP thinking to maximise value throughout the delivery life cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage product backlogs throughout the delivery life cycle.
Gather, analyse and document functional and non-functional requirements.
Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
Facilitate stakeholder workshops and discovery sessions.
Lead backlog refinement and support Agile ceremonies.
Prioritise features and manage dependencies across delivery teams.
Define and manage Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders and delivery teams.
Collaborate with software engineers, architects and designers to deliver user-centred solutions.
Contribute to planning sessions and continuous product improvement.
Required Experience
Experience working as a Product Consultant, Product Owner or Agile Business Analyst.
Strong background delivering digital products within Agile environments.
Proven experience managing and prioritising product backlogs.
Excellent workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
Strong requirements gathering and user story writing experience.
Good understanding of the software development life cycle.
Experience working closely with software engineering teams.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Consultancy or client-facing delivery experience is highly desirable.
Desirable Experience
Experience delivering digital transformation programmes within the UK public sector.
Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) principles.
Experience working with central government organisations such as the DVSA, DfT or other public sector bodies.
Exposure to pre-sales or bid support activities.
Technical awareness of modern software delivery practices.
