Technology Due Diligence at Blue Astral Consulting, Greater London, £Contract Rate

Contract Description

Technology due diligence consultant | Two/Three week engagement | UK | Water services and built environment

We need an experienced technology due diligence consultant for two/three weeks to support the project lead on a private equity technology and operations due diligence.

The sector is water services and the built environment: regulated compliance monitoring, connected devices and the service operations built around them. The engagement covers a proprietary software platform, connected hardware including firmware and device deployment, and a pre deal value creation assessment of tech enabled operations.

What you will be doing

  • Reviewing engineering quality, architecture, technical debt, third party dependencies and scalability
  • Assessing product management, engineering and technology operations practices, outputs and costs against industry norms
  • Reviewing hardware development and production: bill of materials risk, regulatory certification, version control, inventory and installed base management
  • Covering cybersecurity, business continuity, data management and current use of AI
  • Mapping operational processes using Lead to Cash and Trouble to Resolve frameworks to identify cost, margin and multiple levers
  • Running interviews with management, evidencing findings, and drafting sections of the report

What we are looking for

  • Mid career, roughly eight to fifteen years, with real operating experience in software or connected hardware businesses rather than advisory only
  • Prior technology due diligence experience on the investor side, or the equivalent as a hands on CTO, engineering lead or product lead who has been through a transaction
  • Experience in a regulated operating environment is an advantage. Water, utilities, facilities management, healthcare estates or similar
  • Ability to form a view quickly on thin evidence, and to defend it in front of an investment committee
  • Clear written English. You will be drafting, not just interviewing
  • Comfortable with hardware and software in the same engagement. If you only know one, tell us which and we will judge the fit honestly

Practical detail

  • Two weeks of effort, starting imminently
  • Mostly remote, with travel within the UK and Ireland for onsite interviews. Travel reimbursed.
  • Competitive day rate. Contract basis outside IR35
  • You will be supporting the project lead, not running the engagement. The scope is fixed and the deadlines are firm

Everything is under NDA and you will be asked to sign one before we share detail.

To apply, send a short note with your CV or profile, your day rate, and one paragraph on the most useful thing you found in a due diligence and how it changed the deal.
