Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Center Onsite Engineer to join a long-term contract engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong infrastructure and data centre experience who enjoys working in critical environments and providing hands-on technical support.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stable and efficient operation of data centre infrastructure, maintaining high availability, and supporting operational excellence across power, cooling, networking, and hardware systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain physical data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, racks, and cabling.
  • Monitor environmental and operational conditions to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Configure and maintain monitoring, automation, and alerting solutions.
  • Detect, investigate, and escalate operational incidents and events.
  • Support identity and access management integrations and enforce access control policies.
  • Perform routine system administration activities in line with operational and compliance standards.
  • Provide Smart Hands support, including rack installation, server mounting, hardware replacement, and structured cabling.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance to ensure infrastructure reliability and business continuity.
  • Work collaboratively with infrastructure, networking, and security teams to resolve operational issues.

Required Experience

  • 6–8 years' experience working in enterprise or colocation data centre environments.
  • Strong understanding of data centre operations and critical infrastructure.
  • Experience with Linux and/or Windows Server administration.
  • Good knowledge of networking fundamentals, including routing and switching.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware installation, rack management, and structured cabling.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently onsite.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant industry certifications are highly desirable, including:
  • CCNA or CCNP
  • CompTIA Server+
  • Microsoft Azure Certifications
  • AWS Certifications

Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with data centre monitoring platforms and event management tools.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and operational best practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
