Job Title: SC Cleared Lead System Firmware & Low-Level Software Engineer
Location: Remote with travel to Bristol/London as required
Duration: 6-month contract
Rate: £650 per day (Outside IR35)
What you'll be doing:
- Actively participate in pre silicon architectural reviews, virtual prototyping, and hands on post silicon bring up and debugging
- Implement end-to-end Embedded security features, including secure boot mechanisms, cryptographic primitives, and hardware abstraction layers (HAL)
- Partner with hardware and architecture teams to define software specifications, optimize platform performance and drive workload optimization for next-generation ARM SoC designs
- Develop, customize, and maintain Linux Kernel drivers, BSPs, and IoT/networking stacks (eg, TCP/IP, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread, Matter)
- Implement comprehensive unit testing strategies, robust APIs, automated build tools, and modern software development methodologies to ensure delivery of secure, high-quality code
What you'll bring:
- Strong C/C++ capability; Rust for Embedded/systems is desirable
- Hands-on expertise in ARM architecture with experience across Cortex M and/or Cortex A ecosystems
- Proven background in Linux Kernel development and device driver programming on ARM platforms
- Experience covering both pre-silicon validation/emulation and post-silicon bring-up strategies
- Solid software architecture skills: designing well-structured APIs, Middleware, and maintainable abstractions
- Excellent debugging, analytical thinking, and cross-functional communication
- Relevant degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years commercial experience delivering complex Embedded/system software products
