Senior Software Test Engineer/Test Lead - Outside IR35

Contract: 12 months

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer/Test Lead to support the delivery of major and maintenance software releases.

This is a hands-on role involving test strategy, requirements analysis, manual and automated testing, system integration, defect management, and quality reporting. You will work closely with software, hardware, and firmware engineers within a cross-functional Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Define test strategies, test plans, and test coverage.
• Analyse requirements and design, execute, and maintain test cases.
• Lead system, regression, and hardware-software integration testing.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using C# and Ranorex.
• Use Azure DevOps for test management, work tracking, defect logging, reporting, and traceability.
• Test software integrated with physical hardware, devices, and firmware.
• Manage defects, support issue investigation, and verify fixes.
• Produce test metrics, dashboards, and test summary reports.
• Mentor junior test engineers and support testing best practices.
• Participate in Agile and SAFe ceremonies.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a Senior Software Test Engineer or Test Lead.
• Strong manual and automated software testing experience.
• Essential: Hands-on hardware-software integration testing experience.
• Essential: Strong Azure DevOps experience.
• Essential: Practical C# experience, including automated test development and maintenance.
• Experience with Ranorex (nice to have) or a similar automation framework.
• Experience testing software integrated with hardware and firmware.
• Strong knowledge of system, integration, and regression testing.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Working Arrangement

This role is a hybrid role, with the occasional site visit required to test laboratory and physical test devices.
