Project Engineer – Telecommunications
Location: Glasgow (Field-Based)
Pay Rate: Up to £310 per day (Outside IR35)
Contract: Contract
Working Pattern: Full-Time
Travel: Regular travel throughout Scotland, with occasional overnight stays
A leading telecommunications and network infrastructure provider is seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of critical telecommunications projects across Scotland.
Working alongside project managers, field engineers and network operations teams, you'll play a key role in planning, installing and commissioning network infrastructure, while providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle. This role combines hands-on engineering with project delivery, customer engagement and technical documentation, supporting the successful implementation of complex telecommunications solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the planning, delivery and implementation of telecommunications infrastructure projects
- Installing, configuring and commissioning networking and telecommunications equipment
- Conducting site surveys and technical assessments prior to installation
- Configuring, maintaining and fault-finding routers, switches and firewalls
- Producing and maintaining accurate technical documentation and network diagrams
- Creating project handover documentation and ensuring customer records remain up to date
- Working closely with project managers, field engineers and network operations teams to deliver projects on time
- Producing Health & Safety documentation, including RAMS and POWRA assessments
- Providing technical support during project delivery and assisting with the resolution of critical network faults
- Ensuring all work complies with quality, safety and customer standards
About You:
- Proven experience delivering telecommunications or network infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of IP networking, including LAN, WAN and MPLS technologies
- CCNA-level networking knowledge or equivalent practical experience
- Excellent understanding of routing, switching and data networking principles
- Hands-on experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches and firewalls
- Experience working with Nokia networking platforms, including Nokia SAR-H and Nokia NFM-P
- Knowledge of XTran technology
- Experience producing technical drawings using Microsoft Visio
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
