About the Role
This is a blended Technical Lead and Senior Full Stack Developer role, combining hands-on engineering with delivery leadership. You will own technical direction while actively contributing to development, leading the platform through public Beta in line with GDS standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain Back End services and APIs
  • Support and guide Beta Service Assessment readiness
  • Provide leadership within an agile, multidisciplinary team
  • Ensure adherence to GOV.UK Service Standard and Technology Code of Practice
  • Drive scalability, performance and cloud deployment strategies
  • Collaborate with Local Authorities and internal stakeholders

  • Strong experience with .NET 8 or .NET 9 and SQL Server
  • Proven delivery of GDS-aligned services through Beta
  • Experience in ASP.NET Core APIs and modern web architectures
  • Ability to operate as both technical lead and senior engineer
  • Strong understanding of cloud-hosted platforms and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience mentoring developers and leading agile teams
  • Previous public sector or Local Authority engagement
  • UK-based

Summary of the Best Candidate
This role suits a highly experienced consultant who is equally comfortable leading delivery and writing production code. You will likely have 8-12+ years' experience, with a strong Microsoft stack background and recent GDS project delivery, capable of balancing leadership, stakeholder engagement and hands-on development.
