Contract Description

Technical Architect | Outside IR35 | Remote

We are looking for a Lead Technical Architect to support a Discovery focused on developing a future case and incident management capability within a complex public sector environment. This role will suit an experienced architect who can operate across enterprise and solution architecture, bringing structure and technical direction to an early-stage programme.

The Role

You will lead the technical architecture workstream, working alongside enterprise and data architects and a wider multidisciplinary team. You will assess the existing technology landscape, explore potential future-state approaches and provide the technical evidence required to inform the next phase of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and document the current systems, integrations, data flows, dependencies and technical constraints.
  • Ensure proposed approaches align with organisational architecture strategy, standards, governance and existing capabilities.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of reusing, enhancing, purchasing or building technology solutions, including COTS products.
  • Identify considerations relating to security, information governance, interoperability, resilience, scalability and wider non-functional requirements.
  • Produce high-level architecture views, technical options and future-state hypotheses for validation during Alpha.
  • Maintain technical risks, assumptions and dependencies while communicating findings clearly to senior stakeholders.

Essential

  • Strong enterprise and solution architecture experience within large, complex organisations.
  • Previous responsibility for leading architecture during Discovery or another early delivery phase.
  • Ability to analyse complicated system, integration and data landscapes and turn findings into clear recommendations.
  • Experience conducting build, buy and reuse assessments.
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns, security, information governance, resilience and non-functional requirements.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams alongside enterprise architects, data architects, product managers, business analysts and service designers.
  • Strong senior stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Desirable

  • Extensive public sector experience.
  • Experience within healthcare or public health environments.
  • Knowledge of case management, incident response, alerting or coordinated operational-response platforms.
