Contract: Initial 6 Months

We're looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a major banking transformation programme, supporting the replatforming of a core mortgage platform.

This is a delivery-focused contract where we're looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail. You'll be responsible for running workshops, gathering requirements, producing high-quality documentation and working closely with technical teams to deliver change.

Recent experience working on mortgage systems is essential. This isn't a role for someone operating purely at programme or leadership level-we're looking for an experienced BA who is still hands-on and enjoys owning the day-to-day analysis and delivery activities.

You'll be joining an established Digital team working on a long-term transformation programme, with the potential for further contract opportunities as the programme evolves.

The Role

Working within a collaborative Digital delivery team, you'll act as the link between business stakeholders and engineering teams, ensuring requirements are clearly defined, documented and delivered.

You'll facilitate workshops, write detailed functional documentation and support delivery throughout the project lifecycle, working closely alongside Product Owners, Developers, QA and Architects.

The engineering team works using Scrum, whilst the wider programme follows a waterfall approach with approved High Level Designs before development begins.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Run business and technical workshops with stakeholders
  • Gather, analyse and document business and functional requirements
  • Produce high-quality Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Specifications and process documentation
  • Write user stories and acceptance criteria where appropriate
  • Support solution design and collaborate with development teams throughout delivery
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Developers, QA and Architects
  • Facilitate backlog refinement and sprint planning activities
  • Support UAT and ensure delivered solutions meet business requirements
  • Identify risks, dependencies and opportunities for process improvement

Essential Skills

  • Commercial experience as a Business Analyst
  • Recent mortgage systems experience (essential)
  • Strong workshop facilitation experience
  • Requirements gathering and stakeholder management
  • Writing functional specifications and design documentation
  • Experience producing process maps and business documentation
  • Agile and Waterfall delivery experience
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Experience working alongside software engineering teams

Nice to Have

  • Financial Services or Banking experience
  • Digital transformation programmes
  • Experience working on system migrations or platform replatforming
  • JIRA, Azure DevOps or similar Agile tooling
  • API or systems integration project exposure

The Team

You'll be joining a dedicated Digital delivery team consisting of:

  • Technical Delivery Manager
  • Product Owner
  • Development Engineering Manager
  • Scrum Master
  • Business Analyst
  • Tester
  • Three Full Stack Engineers

Everyone within the team is focused on delivering this strategic banking transformation programme.
