Key Responsibilities
* Define and own the overall Test Strategy and Test Approach for projects and programmes.
* Produce and maintain comprehensive Test Plans, test schedules, and resource plans.
* Lead and manage all phases of testing, including:
o Functional Testing
o System Testing
o Software Testing
o Automation Testing
o User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
o Integration Testing
o Regression Testing
o End-to-End (E2E) Testing
* Manage the planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of testing activities.
* Lead and mentor Test Engineers, QA Analysts, and Automation Test Engineers.
* Ensure testing is delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to project milestones.
* Oversee defect management, prioritisation, and resolution with development teams.
* Establish and improve testing standards, governance, and QA best practices.
* Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and quality metrics throughout the testing life cycle.
* Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, Architects, and Project Managers to ensure requirements are fully validated.
* Provide regular reporting on testing progress, quality metrics, risks, and release readiness to senior stakeholders.
* Drive continuous improvement in automation, tooling, and testing processes.
* Support Agile, Scrum, and DevOps delivery practices.

Key Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Test Manager, QA Manager, or Test Lead.
* Extensive experience managing software testing across large-scale digital programmes.
* Strong experience developing and implementing:
o Test Strategy
o Test Plans
o Test Governance
o Test Reporting
o Quality Assurance Frameworks
* Demonstrable experience managing:
o Automation Testing
o Functional Testing
o Software Testing
o System Testing
o User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
o End-to-End Testing
o Regression Testing
* Experience managing test teams across multiple workstreams.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Experience managing testing within Agile delivery environments.
* Excellent planning, organisational, and leadership skills.
* Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

Desirable Experience:
* Experience delivering digital services within UK Government, Central Government departments, or Public Sector organisations.
* Knowledge of Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and Agile delivery principles.
* Experience working within secure or regulated environments.
* Experience supporting cloud-based applications, APIs, and microservices.
* Familiarity with accessibility, performance, and security testing.
* Experience managing third-party suppliers and offshore testing teams.
* Knowledge of release management and deployment processes.
