Job Title: Solution Architect

Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end technical solutions that meet business and user requirements.
- Produce solution architecture documentation, including architecture diagrams, solution designs, integration specifications, and technical roadmaps.
- Ensure solutions align with architecture standards, DDaT Technology Code of Practice, and Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to ensure alignment with strategic architecture.
- Work alongside Agile delivery teams throughout discovery, Alpha, beta, and live phases.
- Evaluate technology options and recommend appropriate platforms, services, and integration patterns.
- Provide technical leadership during solution delivery and implementation.
- Conduct architecture governance reviews and design assurance activities.
- Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.
- Support cloud-first strategies using public cloud platforms.
- Design resilient, highly available, and scalable systems.
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Provide guidance to development teams on implementation best practices.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Security, Infrastructure, Data, and Product teams.
- Participate in architecture review boards and technical governance forums.
- Support procurement activities by assessing supplier technical proposals.
Technical Responsibilities
- Define solution architectures across applications, infrastructure, cloud, data, and integration layers.
- Design API-led and event-driven architectures.
- Produce high-level and low-level solution designs.
- Design secure cloud-native solutions.
- Define integration patterns between Legacy and modern platforms.
- Support migration from on-premise systems to cloud environments.
- Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements including:
- Availability
- Scalability
- Security
- Maintainability
- Performance
- Disaster Recovery
- Monitoring
- Observability
