Key Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end technical solutions that meet business and user requirements.
  • Produce solution architecture documentation, including architecture diagrams, solution designs, integration specifications, and technical roadmaps.
  • Ensure solutions align with architecture standards, DDaT Technology Code of Practice, and Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to ensure alignment with strategic architecture.
  • Work alongside Agile delivery teams throughout discovery, Alpha, beta, and live phases.
  • Evaluate technology options and recommend appropriate platforms, services, and integration patterns.
  • Provide technical leadership during solution delivery and implementation.
  • Conduct architecture governance reviews and design assurance activities.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support cloud-first strategies using public cloud platforms.
  • Design resilient, highly available, and scalable systems.
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Provide guidance to development teams on implementation best practices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, Infrastructure, Data, and Product teams.
  • Participate in architecture review boards and technical governance forums.
  • Support procurement activities by assessing supplier technical proposals.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Define solution architectures across applications, infrastructure, cloud, data, and integration layers.
  • Design API-led and event-driven architectures.
  • Produce high-level and low-level solution designs.
  • Design secure cloud-native solutions.
  • Define integration patterns between Legacy and modern platforms.
  • Support migration from on-premise systems to cloud environments.
  • Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements including:

    • Maintainability
    • Performance
    • Disaster Recovery
    • Monitoring
    • Observability
