Location: South Coast (Hybrid)

Contract Length: 3 months initial (Likely extensions)

Rate: Up to £765 p/d

We're supporting a major digital transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Data Architect to help shape the future of data across mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own end-to-end data architecture across complex platforms
• Design secure, resilient, and scalable data solutions spanning cloud, edge, and tactical environments
• Develop architectural patterns for Real Time data ingestion, streaming, and analytics
• Lead the integration of sensor, platform, and mission data using common data models
• Ensure compliance with security standards and accreditation requirements
• Provide architectural governance, design assurance, and technical leadership
• Mentor engineering teams and promote architectural best practice
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, translating operational requirements into scalable technical solutions

Essential Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior Data Architect delivering enterprise-scale solutions
• Strong background in:
  • Data modelling
  • Data warehousing
  • Lakehouse architectures
  • Data integration
• Experience designing hybrid cloud and edge architectures
• Strong understanding of:
  • Event-driven architecture
  • Distributed systems
  • API-led integration
  • Streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis or similar)
• Experience designing solutions for high-volume, Real Time, or sensor-driven data
• Strong stakeholder engagement and technical leadership skills
• Knowledge of secure data architectures, identity and access management, encryption, and Zero Trust principles

Desirable Experience

• MOD, SDA, or wider defence sector experience
• Cloud platforms including:
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • GCP
• Modern data platforms such as:
  • Redshift
  • Synapse
  • Data Lake
  • EKS/AKS
  • Kubernetes
• Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, or similar technologies
• Experience designing solutions for low-bandwidth, disconnected, or degraded operating environments
