Senior Frontend Engineer (Contract)

Outside IR35 | Hybrid (2 day per week onsite) – West Yorkshire, England

Looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team on an initial contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver modern, scalable and high-performing web applications and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) used by millions of customers.

The Role As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you'll work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Architects and Backend Engineers to design, build and enhance customer-facing digital products. You'll play a key role in delivering new features, improving performance and driving engineering best practices across the development lifecycle

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain modern web applications and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) using React and TypeScript.
• Translate business and user requirements into scalable, maintainable frontend solutions.
• Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment.
• Champion frontend performance, accessibility, security and engineering best practices.
• Participate in technical discussions, architecture decisions and code reviews.
• Build quality into solutions through automated testing and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate within Agile, cross-functional engineering teams.

Essential Skills

• Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript
• Modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Progressive Web Apps (PWA)
• HTML5, CSS3 and SCSS
• Responsive and mobile-first development
• REST API and/or GraphQL integration
• Automated testing using Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright and/or Cypress
• Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Frontend performance optimisation and Core Web Vitals
• Strong understanding of WCAG accessibility standards

Desirable Experience

• Large-scale e-commerce or customer-facing digital platforms
• Azure cloud environments
• Personalisation or experimentation platforms
• Search, browse, basket or checkout functionality
