Business Analyst: Insurance
Outside IR35
Hybrid with travel across the UK required.
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to provide specialist consultancy services on a business-critical transformation programme within the insurance sector.
Working alongside business stakeholders and delivery teams, you will analyse current business processes, map end-to-end customer journeys and identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process optimisation and automation. This is a deliverables-focused consultancy engagement suited to an experienced independent contractor operating outside IR35.
Key Deliverables
- Analyse existing business processes and operating models across insurance functions.
- Produce high-quality As-Is and To-Be process maps using recognised process modelling techniques (eg BPMN).
- Map end-to-end customer journeys, identifying pain points, bottlenecks and areas for service improvement.
- Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to gather, validate and challenge business requirements.
- Identify opportunities for automation, digitisation and process standardisation, including integration with existing technology platforms.
- Produce business requirements, functional specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria where appropriate.
- Undertake gap analysis and impact assessments to support business change.
- Work collaboratively with technical teams to ensure proposed solutions align with business objectives.
- Support solution design, testing and implementation activities as required.
- Provide recommendations that improve operational efficiency, customer experience and regulatory compliance.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience delivering Business Analysis consultancy within the insurance sector.
- Strong background in business process modelling and documentation.
- Demonstrable experience mapping end-to-end customer journeys.
- Experience identifying and recommending automation opportunities and process improvements.
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
- Experience producing clear business requirements and functional documentation.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver independently.
Desirable Experience
- Experience of insurance transformation or digital change programmes.
- Knowledge of claims, underwriting, policy administration or customer servicing processes.
- Experience working with workflow automation or low-code platforms.
- Familiarity with BPMN, Visio, Lucidchart or similar process modelling tools.
- Experience working within Agile and/or Waterfall delivery environments.
