Senior Platform Engineer at bedigital, United Kingdom, £Contract Rate

bedigital have partnered with fast-growing UK technology business developing cutting-edge AI and cloud platforms that support government, defence and critical national infrastructure.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join a highly capable engineering team responsible for building secure, scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure that underpins a mission-critical software platform.

The Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll work closely with software engineers, architects and product teams to build, automate and maintain the core platform that enables rapid, secure software delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, building and maintaining secure cloud infrastructure.
• Developing Infrastructure as Code to automate platform provisioning.
• Building and maintaining modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Managing containerised applications and orchestration platforms.
• Developing automation tools and platform services using TypeScript and related technologies.
• Improving platform resilience, scalability, performance and reliability.
• Embedding security and DevSecOps best practice throughout the software development life cycle.
• Supporting developers with platform tooling, automation and deployment processes.
• Monitoring, troubleshooting and continuously improving production environments.
• Contributing to architectural decisions and platform strategy.

Essential

• Active SC Clearance preferred, although candidates must at least be eliglble.
• Strong Platform Engineering, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering experience.
• TypeScript .
• Node.js.
• AWS.
• Kubernetes.
• Docker.
• Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• CI/CD pipeline design and implementation.
• Linux administration.
• Automation and Scripting.
• Git and modern software development practices.
• Experience working within Agile engineering teams.

Desirable

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

• GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tooling.
• Helm.
• ArgoCD.
• Observability and monitoring platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry or similar).
• DevSecOps tooling and secure software delivery.
• Cloud-native architectures and microservices.
• Identity and access management.
• Networking and cloud security.
• Experience building highly available, resilient distributed systems.
• Previous experience within government, defence, cyber security or other highly regulated environments.
