Government client is seeking a Delivery Manager to implement GDS principles across the delivery of complex, high-risk digital and non-digital initiatives. It's to lead the small team on their journey of implementing GDS framework.
You'll be responsible for shaping delivery approaches, setting standards, and driving performance across multiple areas while working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment, clarity, and successful outcomes at scale.
The teams is mainly focused on digital applications and power apps and will require expertise of building their knowledge and understanding of GDS principles.
GDS-Aligned Delivery Leadership
- Lead delivery of services in line with GDS Service Standard and Digital Service Playbook
- Champion user-centred design, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement
- Ensure services are designed around user needs rather than organisational structures
- Embed Agile and Lean practices across delivery teams at scale
Service Design & Lifecycle Management
- Oversee services through the full life cycle: discovery, Alpha, beta, live
- Ensure readiness for GDS service assessments and stage gates
Outcomes & Performance
- Define and track meaningful service metrics (KPIs, OKRs, service performance measures)
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with SROs, policy teams, and senior leaders to align on priorities and outcomes
- Support senior stakeholders through service assessments and governance boards
Governance, Risk & Assurance
- Ensure delivery meets GDS standards for accessibility, security, and performance
- Implement proportionate governance and assurance aligned to risk
Commercial & Supplier Management
- Work within government frameworks to manage digital suppliers and delivery partners
- Ensure suppliers align with Agile delivery and GDS expectations
Leadership & Capability
- Build and mentor high-performing multidisciplinary teams (product, design, engineering)
- Embed a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and learning
- Promote best practice across delivery and support capability uplift
Essential Experience
- Strong experience delivering digital services in line with GDS standards
- Deep understanding of user-centred design and service life cycle (discovery - live)
- Experience leading Agile delivery across multiple teams or programmes
- Proven success passing GDS service assessments
- Ability to engage with technical, delivery, and policy stakeholders at senior level
- Experience managing complex risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges
The Delivery Manager is required 6 months initially; hybrid working (1-2 days in the office); and is Outside of IR35.
