AI Engineer

6-month contract | Outside IR35 | Remote-first | UK-based | £600–£700 p/d

SR2 is working with an exciting AI scale-up delivering secure, practical AI systems into complex and regulated environments.

You’ll be taking customer use cases from scope through to working delivery. You’ll be building quickly, working with messy data and documents, and shipping AI systems that are reliable, explainable and usable in real-world settings.

You’ll be working on Python, FastAPI, LLMs, RAG, GraphRAG, Neo4j, Cypher, knowledge graphs, ontologies, NLP, NER, entity resolution, embeddings, vector search, document ingestion, LangGraph-style orchestration, Docker, Helm and Kubernetes.

The key priority is strong knowledge graph experience. You’ll need to be comfortable modelling domains, working with graph databases, building graph-based retrieval approaches and connecting this into applied AI solutions.

You’ll need:

- Strong Python engineering, ideally with FastAPI

- Hands-on knowledge graph experience with Neo4j, Cypher and graph data modelling

- RAG, GraphRAG or hybrid retrieval experience

- LLM application experience, including agents or orchestration tools such as LangGraph / LangChain

- NLP experience across entity extraction, NER, entity resolution, embeddings or vector search

- Experience ingesting and structuring unstructured documents such as PDFs, DOCX or XLSX

- Delivery experience taking customer use cases from idea through to working software

- Docker, Helm or Kubernetes experience

- Secure, regulated or high-stakes environment experience would be a bonus
